The Westminster Menswear Archive has loaned four garments to Fashion Extremes!, an exhibition at Bankfield Museum in Halifax. The exhibition brings together garments from the past 250 years that exaggerate proportion, silhouette, colour, and decoration.

The loans include a green suit jacket and matching trousers designed by Tommy Nutter in the mid-1970s. The jacket features wide lapels and a distinctive triple-pleated back, while the trousers have the flared silhouette associated with menswear of the period.

Also on display is a pair of Levi’s Engineered Jeans. Introduced in 1999, the design used twisted seams and three-dimensional construction to create jeans shaped around the movement of the body.

The final garment from the Westminster Menswear Archive is an Umbro England football team Replikit tracksuit top from 1990. Its oversized form, bold colour blocking and prominent England branding reflect the period’s growing influence of sportswear on everyday menswear.

Fashion Extremes! is a free exhibition and runs at Bankfield Museum, Halifax, until 19 December 2026.
